| WORKSHOP
LOCATION: This workshop will be held at our home base - Studio 212 in Metuchen - the "studio built for glamour". Our studio was truly built for glamour. My former partner Ron and I searched for over a year until we found the perfect space and moved in back in August, 2003. We were one of the first tenants after new owners had bought the building. One of the things that we really liked was the window light. We had them knock down the wall between two rooms that had windows to make a bigger daylight shooting space, which became Studio A. We usually have this room set up with 3 or 4 sets, including our schoolroom set. Some other sets that we do in this room include a bedroom, den, and living room. Another large room, this one with no windows, became Studio B. This room is always set up with studio lights and also includes a 3' x 3' x 3' custom-made white box that we can put one or more models into. We usually shoot this set with our Alien Bees Ringflash. We usually have a platform set up in this room in front of the medium gray wall, that works great with color gels. Another corner in this room has two walls that are painted red with some black highlights. In summer, 2005, we doubled the size of the studio by renting the rest of the available rooms on our floor. We turned a very large room into Studio D, which is about the size of Studio A and B combined. We had that room gutted, removed the drop ceiling, removed the carpeting and replaced it with a tile floor, removed the two regular-size doors and had a double door installed right in the center of the long wall. In addition to the white cyc wall we have the other end of the room painted flat black, and the long wall on the other side is divided into red and yellow shooting areas. We also have a black and white checked floor in front of the yellow area. We usually re-paint the cyc wall for every workshop. We also added a second model room that can accommodate 8 or more models directly opposite the double doors of Studio D. We added 3 offices, and doubled the size of our storage and prop room. We then convinced another business that was on our floor to re-locate to the building across the parking lot so that we could take over the last two offices on our floor, which is now my new office and attached prop room. Our total amount of rented space is 3055 sf. We often shoot in the parking lot and other places in and around the studio. Right now we have 12 Alien Bees at the studio, including the Alien Bee Ringlight. We also have many soft boxes, grids, and beauty dishes. We've have a wi-fi network with "Optimum Online Boost" for faster speed so you can easily connect to the internet from our studio from either Mac or PC. Click here for directions to our studio. |

SUPPORT STAFF DIGITAL WILLY: Digital Willy started attending my workshop in September, 2001, and has attended over 150 workshops. He is now my official workshop photographer and has done many of the photos on individual model pages, posts a page of photos for each workshop, and has posted many individual model pages for our workshop models. He also brings special props and helps us set up theme sets for special occasions. Bill is usually in charge of Studio D, the room with the cyc wall, which he sets up with his distinctive high-key, "Vargas" style lighting. Bill is also an expert at Photoshop and will answer your Photoshop questions at the workshop. Check out Digital Willy's web site - http://www.digitalwilly.com/workshops.html JAY BUHAY: My friend Jay is a tremendous help in running the workshop. He builds most of the sets that we use at the workshop and is always here at the studio late at night on Saturdays (or early Sunday morning) helping me get ready for the workshop. He does most of his set-building magic in Studio A. He also deals with all the emergencies that pop up during the workshop and makes sure that the one-on-one sessions run smoothly. Jay has attended over 125 workshops since September, 2003. Check out Jay's work on his MM page - http://modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=100256 TOM S. Tom is our official electrician and workshop helper. He built the "world's largest ringlight" for us and usually comes in early on workshop Sundays and helps set up the lights and does whatever else he can to make the workshop run smoothly. Tom is usually in charge of the lighting in Studio B. FRANK WOOD: Frank lives in Connecticut and recruits many of the models that we use at the workshop, and often gives them a ride to the workshop. Frank is also our location scout and has procured all of the locations that we have used in Connecticut and Westchester County, NY. Frank has attended over 100 workshops since October, 2001. |

Our Yahoo Group is now over 8 years old and we currently have over 2800 members! If you are not a member of our Yahoo Group - PLEASE join that group. I always announce upcoming workshops, model updates, etc., to the Yahoo group first because I can easily send out a quick message to that group, and because there are about four times as many people on that list as on my digest mailing list. Workshop updates are only posted to the Yahoo group. The group also provides a forum for workshop-related topics. Please do not choose "no email" or you will not receive our notices. You must choose "individual emails" to view the photos that are attached to messages. To check out our Yahoo Group go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/glamour101/ I recently started a Facebook page for Glamour101. Click here to check it out. |
