WORKSHOP NOTES:
This
was our 140th workshop and our first time at this great location. I
would
like to thank Mark Searfoss for hosting our workshop at his studio in
Sinking
Springs, PA, just outside of Reading. I cannot overstate how great this
location is. We were able to shoot both inside and outside. A favorite
shooting area of many of the photographers was the the fully
operational
waterfall. There were also 3 outdoor sets attached to the house with
diffuser
material for a roof.
Another favorite shooting area was the beach scene (see photos of Lena and Bonnie). There was also a hanging swing, a wooden bridge, a wooden play house, an old fashion outhouse, and other areas. Someone borrowed a motorcycle from Mark's neighbor and we did some shots with it. There was also a large number of sets inside including sets made by Off The Wall Productions in Canada.
We had six models and 15 paid photographers at the workshop. This was one of the few times that all the models were newcomers to the workshop. We got a late start because there had been a bad accident on I-78 about 3 miles before the PA border and a number of photographers and two of the models were stuck in the traffic jam.. Fortunately, 3 of our models arrived the night before the workshop. Ember came down from Syracuse on Saturday. Lena also came from NY state and picked up her friend Bonnie in NJ on her way to the workshop on Saturday. My friend Frank Wood came down from CT with Amanda and they picked up Joann in North Jersey on the way to the workshop. They hit the traffic jam! Patricia is one of Mark's favorite models and he called her after the workshop started to see if she could also come and model for us. Fortunately, she lives close by in Reading.
Harry Markel from Fujifilm came to the workshop with free film and door prizes for us. This is the 20th workshop of ours that Fuji has supported. He brought his Fuji S1 digital camera and a digital printer and made prints for the models on the spot. He also had door prizes for us including a $130 Fuji Professional vest made by Tenba, a Fuji film loop, bricks of film, and other goodies.
